QR Code Scanner Online: Read a QR Code from an Image

If you have a QR code saved as an image, a screenshot, or a photo, you can read it directly on your computer instead of hunting for a phone. This tool decodes a QR code from an uploaded image or straight from your webcam, entirely in your browser, and shows you exactly what it contains.

  1. 1Open the Scan QR Code tool.
  2. 2Choose "Upload Image" and drag in a photo or screenshot, or choose "Use Camera" to scan one live.
  3. 3The decoded text appears automatically as soon as a QR code is found.
  4. 4Copy it, or click "Open Link" if it's a URL.

Frequently asked questions

Does this work with a photo of a QR code, not just a screenshot?

Yes, as long as the QR code is reasonably clear and unobstructed in the photo, it will decode the same as a clean screenshot.

What if no QR code is found in the image?

Make sure the QR code is fully visible and not too small or blurry in the image. Cropping the image closer to the QR code sometimes helps.

Can I scan a QR code using my camera directly?

Yes. Choose "Use Camera" and allow camera access when your browser asks. Point your camera at the QR code and it decodes automatically, no photo needed first.
